TAXI 013: Diane Victor Educational Supplement
6th July 2007 | Other items by Administrator |
Diane Victor’s art career has been on an upward trajectory since the moment she graduated from Wits University in the 1980s – a rise that can be attributed equally to her idiosyncratic iconography and her technical prowess in both drawing and printmaking. Victor is an obsessive artist employing figurative, narrative and expressive strategies in order to marry contemporary and historical themes in her highly allegorical work. Diane Victor is the subject of the latest TAXI art book, due for release later this year. This book, like all previous TAXI books, will include an educational supplement, which is being prepared by Jacki Mc Innes and Lara Koseff. The supplement will focus on aspects of Victor’s work such as her use of ‘intertextual’ references in order to relate contemporary experience to archetypal characterisation, and her use of self representation to lend a personal authenticity to the universal concerns of political and social folly. Futher information on the educational supplement to follow. |
