David Krut Projects and Oppikoppi Productions invited Cannonball Press to South Africa to participate in the introductory fine arts component of the Oppikoppi festival. For the exhibition at David Krut Projects, Cannonball Press has brought some of their large printed canvas banners and very affordable woodblock prints from New York. They will also be installing in the gallery a giant ziggurat made out of cardboard and pasted with woodblock prints. A large collaborative piece, themed ‘contraption’, will be included in the show. This work is the outcome of a woodblock workshop held by Cannonball Press and David Krut Print Workshop. Artists Wilma Cruise, Lawrence Lemaoana, Bronwen Findlay, Dorothee Kreutzfeldt, Avhashoni Mainganye, Stompie Selibe, Mary Sibande, Mlungisi Goodman, Mary Wafer and Bruce Backhouse participated. Cannonball Press: New York to Johannesburg will include a collaborative work with the aforementioned artists, as well as an installation and works on paper and canvas.
