DK Arts Starter Library on South African Art and Culture

Book publishers/sellers/collectors are obsessed with libraries. The idea of a starter library is a way to create more enthusiasts. The suggested pack contains books and DVDs that serve as an introduction to the arts and can cater for different levels of knowledge with scope for expansion every quarter with suggested updates. Pallo Jordan, an earlier Minister of Arts and Culture managed to get an allocation for school and state libraries which has created the momentum of appreciation for knowledge to be housed in that wonderful space called a library. Selected here are 15 books and three DVD’s that we felt would be a good introduction to both the local contemporary art scene and printmaking. This forms a starter pack, and our idea is that every three months we would offer a further selection, to encourage a growth in both your private library and your interest in contemporary South African art.
