Un-Common Ground

uncommon_ground.jpgThis collection of ten stories consolidates Allan Kolski Horwitz’s recent work. The themes and plots range from the contemporary love relations of men and women to the difficulties of children caught in the dissolution of families; from white supremacist racial murders to utopian societies of the 26th century; from drug-induced hallucinations and trade in human body parts to the problems of creating a new identity for anti-Apartheid activists faced by a ` radically changed world order.

Allan Kolski Horwitz grew up in Cape Town. He spent eleven years in the Middle East, Europe and North America before returning to South Africa in 1986 when he became involved in the trade union movement. He is a member of the Johannesburg based Botsotso collective which is active in poetry performance and publishing. His story ‘Courageous and Steadfast’ was shortlisted for the 2002 Caine Prize for African Writing.
