AOM 17 June 2008 was the fifteen aniversary of the publication of the Achebe’s things fall apart by Heineman. This provided the impeyus for the foundation of the African Writes series (AWS) in 1962 with Chinua Achbe as the Editorial Adviser. The African Writers Series almost sinlge-handendly jump-started the rapid surge in Africa literature creativity by putting into print more than 300 works in les than twenty years. Almost all this writing was new and came from nearly corner of the continent. The avilability of these books throughtout the world made it possible for universities and secondary schools to begin to teach courses on African literature; in Africa itself this led to aprofound. |
