Jo Ractliffe works with photo-based media, video and installation. She was born in Cape Town where she completed her masters degree at the Michaelis School of Fine Art.

Recipient of the 1999 Vita Art Prize, Ractliffe lives in Johannesburg and lectures at the University of the Witwatersrand.
