Stanford Creative Works Projects

The Stanford Creative Works Project, based in Stanford in the Western Cape, promotes a nurturing, safe and stimulating environment for children and young adults to explore their creative potential. The Stanford Creative Works Projects is a community based, not-for-profit organisation founded on the belief that access to quality art and cultural education for all people is fundamental for the growth of healthy, wholesome and aware individuals and communities.

SCW Horse Riding Outing

On Friday 21 November, 10 children from the Stanford community were treated to an amazing experience riding horses from the African Horse Company. We drove them from the township to Stanford Hills Wine Estate where the horses are based. A group of volunteers conducted the horse riding. There were 3 horses available, so the children […]

Material Collage

This month’s theme is enhancing and learning about base concepts. We are searching for shapes and patterns around us, exploring colour and texture as well as finding an understanding of how our body relates in size and shape to our environment. During this week students were occupied with material collage making. We used bits and […]

Patterns and Shapes

This week’s project was all about patterns and shapes. The kids were encouraged to look for patterns around us. We looked at windows and different burglar bars, identifying squares, triangles or rectangular. We looked at a water bowl and investigated the ripples made when we throw a stone or alternative object into the water. We […]

It has been some time but we are moving forward nicely. The Stone Church garden is developing its infrastructure. We received a truckload of Stone pine offcuts which are now being used as support walls for raised gardens and we are building a wooden fence to protect the vegetables. There has been considerable growth of […]
