David Krut Projects at the Joburg Art Fair

28th January 2008 by Lucy Rayner

We invite you to visit our booth at the Joburg Art Fair this March. David Krut Projects forms part of a multi-layered organisation, every element of which you are guarenteed to find naturally incorporated into the eccentric personality of Booth 23. We are a project space intimately linked to a professional print workshop (DKW), an art books publishing house (DKP) and a community outreach programme (TAEP).

Andrzej Nowicki ‘Sleep Depot’

28th January 2008 by Lucy Rayner

Exhibition from the 21st February until the 29th March.

The world I paint has no future. It is a self-contained place without apparent movement. Yet on closer scrutiny, movement of a sort can be perceived. A receding pull from the past, to the past. This pull stems from the exploration of the old roads, an attempt to discover among these paths that which has been forgotten or overlooked. Strangely, when discovered, the relics that inspire my world carry with them qualities that resonate with the uncertainty we usually associate with the future; their unfamiliarity stems from their connection with a now distant world.

DK Projects JHB: 2007 Report

13th December 2007 by Lucy Rayner

Defined by an astonishing amount of progress, 2007 has seen the gallery move premises from a modest bohemian space adjacent to David Krut Print Workshop (DKW) to a full-scale ‘white cube’ suitable for the calibre of projects that have now become customary at David Krut Projects. A tight schedule of shows this year has [...]

Digital Surrogates at David Krut Projects

21st September 2007 by Lucy Rayner

Digital Surrogates brings together four artists from across the globe who blur the line between digital interactive media and the fine arts. The show will feature five large digital portraits from a series entitled 13 Most Beautiful Avatars by Eva and Franco Mattes alongside paintings by Bronwyn Miller and photographs by Pippa Stalker. Together this work translates persuasively into an analysis of self, public perception and possibility.
