Creative lives: Frank Lloyd Wright

franklloyd.jpg‘Frank Lloyd Wright was the greatest architect who ever lived. We know this because he told us.’ Edwin Heathcote, writing in the Financial Times, 2000

Frank Lloyd Wright was a restless genius who strove tirelessly to create an architecture that was truly American. Through his writings, his talks and hundreds of apprentices, his ideas became influential all over the world. He designed over 1100 structures, of which 532 were completed and over 400 survive. Creative Lives: Frank Lloyd Wright tells his compelling story, including his unpromising progress at school, his mother’s conviction of his brilliance, the trials and tribulations of his private and financial affairs, and the importance of designs such as Taliesin, Fallingwater and the Guggenheim Museum.

The Creative Lives series looks at some of the world’s creative geniuses, linking their work to their life and showing how they created the masterpieces for which they are renowned.
