Our gallery, David Krut Projects at 142 Jan Smuts Avenue, is an experimental
space showing works on paper created in our print workshop (DKW). The gallery has also begun a series of international shows in order to generate an interest in printmaking by overseas artists.

Floating and Falling, an exhibition of monotypes and mixed-media oil paintings, is Bronwen Findlay’s first solo show in Johannesburg since her major painting exhibition at the Standard Bank Gallery in 2006 and a show of prints at Artist Proof Studio in 2007.

Bronwen Findlay Opens at David Krut on 24 May

Bronwen Findlay will open an exhibition of new work with the working title ‘Floating and Falling’ at David Krut Projects on 24 May. The show will consist of prints made at the David Krut Print Workshop and oil paintings.

DKW:New Editions 2008, Exhibition Opening

The David Krut Print Workshop (DKW) has always produced some fantastic prints, and Saturday’s exhibition opening was a testament to the quality of the work being created. Works by Deborah Bell, Colbert Mashile, Dianne Victor and David Koloane make up the exhibition which runs until the 17th of May.

AVANT CAR GUARD are Zander Blom, Jan-Henri Booyens and Michael MacGarry - a three member visual artist from Johannesburg. They have exhibited at a national and international level over the past 18 months, and have published a book on their production entitled Volume 1.

Andrzej Nowicki ‘Sleep Depot’

Exhibition from the 21st February until the 29th March.

The world I paint has no future. It is a self-contained place without apparent movement. Yet on closer scrutiny, movement of a sort can be perceived. A receding pull from the past, to the past. This pull stems from the exploration of the old roads, an attempt to discover among these paths that which has been forgotten or overlooked. Strangely, when discovered, the relics that inspire my world carry with them qualities that resonate with the uncertainty we usually associate with the future; their unfamiliarity stems from their connection with a now distant world.
