Synonymous with log fires and red wine, Cape Town in June is also known for the buzz of the annual Book Fair. Taking place at the impressive Cape Town International Conference Centre, it is a much anticipated event on the city’s calendar, and Johannesburg-based David Krut Publishing has had a booth at both years of the Fair’s existence with David and Bronwyn Law Viljoen, Managing Editor of David Krut Publishing in attendance. As the Manager of our recently established Cape Town venue, this was officially my first exposure to this ‘celebration of books’ and it certainly did not disappoint. We were fortunate to secure a particularly good position this year and enjoyed the benefit of what turned out to be yet another very well attended Book Fair. Among the many people we got to meet was the President himself, seen here talking to David about our latest publication Light on a Hill: Building the Constitutional Court of South Africa. Included amongst the many publishers, academics, writers, designers, actors, and artists we interacted with were well known actor/comedian Pieter Dirk Uys, and actors Marius Weyers and Grethe Fox; publisher Jonathan Ball; book editor and contributing writers for artthrob, Andrew Lamprecht and Linda Stupart as well as Cape Town artists Michael Petit and Tyrone Appollis; the latter a noted character who kept us amused with his eccentric antics and his tireless yet somehow charming self marketing! All in all it was a productive five days of networking and sales and we look forward to next years event in the beautiful Mother City.
