Simphiwe Mashinini recently joined the TAXI Art Education Programme as the co-ordinator for our music activities at Gallo downtown studios in Johannesburg. Mashinini completed her matric in 2004 at Assumption Convent. She is currently studying towards a BCom degree in Accounting at Wits University. In 2007 she was actively involved in the continuing revival of the Rotaract Club of Johannesburg East, the club falls under the umbrella of the Rotary organization that believes in growing its member’s skills in leadership and community involvement. She has also participated in a number of other activities, such as being an Arts ambassador at the Wits Theatre and being a tutor for a community outreach programme at the Ekhuruleni Adult Centre in City Deep. Simphiwe’s interest in the community goes hand in hand with the beliefs of all individuals involved in the organisation and she will not only be co-ordinating the music space at Gallo and music events. She will also be assisting Nkateko Mainganye (TAEP) facilitator in conducting spelling bee classes that will be centred on teaching the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of South Africa. |
