The launch of Mama Mbeki’s biography took place at the Constitution Court where many high ranking officials of government and SABC were present. A dance group from the Transkei kept everyone entertained with their energetic traditional dances and ululating. After the official part of the ceremony, the party moved into the David Krut Bookstore for the media to interview and photograph Mama Mbeki with her son and family while she signed copies of the book. Gadi Magagane of David Krut Bookstore - Constitution Hill took the opportunity to become better acquainted with the leader of our nation. Epainette Nomaka Mbeki: A Humble Journey On Her Footprints is a biography that has been produced by Thobeka Zazi Ndabula. Ndabula is a writer and photographer, she embarked on this project after learning more about the work that Mama Mbeki is involved in, in her community in rural Transkei. She also believes that the President’s mother was the most underated person in South Africa and the world and that it was the right time to document the life of this great dame. This book is a tribute to a woman who has lived long and seen many things and has remained humble and charitable through it all. Mama Mbeki encouraged people to read the biography on her life by saying, “Please read that book. It is a book written by an old lady who has lived through a number of governments”. The book is available at our bookstore at Constitution Hill and Parkwood. |
