David Krut visited Gary Schneider and John Erdman in Brookhaven Hamlet on Sunday 20 April 2008.

Gary has been preparing for a solo exhibition entitled FLESH at the Museum of Photographic Art, San Diego opening in early May. Amongst the work seen were 5 images which were commissioned for the New York Times Magazine in 2006 and which won the Photo Annual Award silver prize at the 2007 Lead Awards in Hamburg for “Microbesity - What Makes So Many Fat”.

Gary has been developing a project he calls his HANDBOOK and has produced a one off Blurb publication with a view to a trade edition. Blurb is an on-demand publisher which requires the use of their internet source software. The images in the book are imprints of hands that are portraits of individuals and couples made between 1996 and the present.

There is an extensive list of publications in which Gary’s work has been included and I took advantage of looking at some of these impressive books in Gary and John’s library.

Kate McCrickard director at David Krut Projects, New York has presented two exhibitions of Gary’s works.
