Bruce Backhouse at DKW.

20th June 2008 | Other items by Londiwe

Bruce Backhouse is currently working on a new series of prints at DKW. The process is still in its early stages. Here are some pictures of Bruce at work.

Bruce drawing on the paper

He is experimenting with a printing technique called soft ground, where a piece of soft paper is fixed on top of the copper plate, on which the artist makes the drawing. When the pencil presses into the soft ground, it adheres to the paper, which is carefully pulled away together with the attached ground leaving the design exposed on the copper.
