The 21st of July marks the commemoration of the death of Albert Luthuli, the first African to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and also leader of the African National Congress for 15 years. Luthuli gave many Africans a vision of how they could be South Africans in a country at that time, 1961, beset by racial divisions, religious intolerance, and fear.
