David Krut Publishing at The 14th International Conference on Learning held at the Wits School of Education


The conference opened with a brilliant rendition of popular songs by the St David’s School brass band, the last tune being ‘When the Saints go marching in’. A fitting salute to the work teachers do in South Africa and all over the world. Mrs. Graca Machel the keynote speaker highlighted the importance of learning in breaking the chains of poverty and in relieving the plight of children in Africa.

Taxi Art Education Programme Mid-year Update 2007

I can hardly believe its mid-year already and all the learners are on holiday. This year has been a busy one for TAEP and many new and encouraging developments have come our way. Landmarks of Jozi Exhibition

The Landmarks of Jozi project all started with the Landmarks of New York Exhibition hosted by the U.S Consulate at the Women’s Jail at Constitution Hill. TAEP facilitators present at the exhibition started talking to Ismail Mahomed, who is the Senior Cultural Specialist at the US Consulate General.

TAEP Takes a Stand on Enviromental Issues

The TAXI Art Education Programme (TAEP) has embarked on a new venture in collobaration with Collect-a-Can. Environmental issues are at the forefront of the programmes goals for this year. The aim of the programme is to take care of the environment and to create awareness about environmental issues and creating solutions.

Printmaking Workshop at David Krut

The David Krut Print workshop has recently begun to offer elementary and advanced printmaking classes to the general public under the instruction of printmaker Niall Bingham. The classes are aimed at people from a range of different backgrounds, and no previous art-making skills are required.

I had the great opportunity of interviewing Anne De Kerchove. A woman who happens to be beautiful, smart and charitable. Anne is an American who has been collecting art for the past 10 years; recently she visited South Africa for a short holiday. She dropped by one of her favourite galleries in South Africa right here at David Krut. She has a great passion for the arts and is also patron.
